Compact and Expanded Schedule Grid View

If you have ever wanted to avoid having lessons overlap on the schedule page, this is the article for you!

Written by Hemedi Saidi

The most commonly used schedule view is the weekly view, and it's no surprise. It is very convenient to see what the schedule is like week to week. The busier the weekly schedule is, however, the more information there is to display and different teachers may have different preferences for viewing many lessons.

There are two options for how to arrange many lessons in the same slot.

Compact View

The compact view tries to fit more information at a glance while taking up less space, and requiring less scrolling. On a busier schedule, the compact view will overlap lessons so you can see how many how many lessons there are but need to hover over each lesson to get a full view of details.

This can be a good balance if you are just looking at your schedule on a computer screen, and just need a quick idea of how many and what lessons there are. If you need all lesson information seen at once, the expanded view is a better option.

Expanded View

The expanded view shows all lessons side by side and has no overlapping. It takes up more space and usually means a little more scrolling to see all lessons and all week days. This is ideal if you are going to be printing the weekly schedule.

Changing Views

Switching between the two schedule views — compact and expanded — is as simple as pressing a button. As shown in the image below, there is a button in the top right corner of the schedule page for switching between an expanded and compact view.
