What is a multiple?
You may be familiar with servings from having read many recipes in books and on websites. In ClassCart it is important to distinguish between servings and what we call multiples. Multiples are the number of servings a recipe is listed as producing by default. So if a recipe produces 4 servings, 1 multiple is equal to 4 servings.
But why is this important?
Well, when ordering for a class it is worth distinguishing between how many "multiples of the recipe" to order and how many servings will be produced. For example, let's say you have a class of 10 students and you want each of them to make 1 of the recipe each. If the recipe happens to produce 4 servings, this would actually be 40 servings in total. However, it is a lot simpler to think of it as 1 multiple per student. This distinction between servings and multiples is especially important when planning for larger classes.
In summary, when using ClassCart, it is important to keep in mind the difference between servings and multiples. Servings refer to the number of individual portions a recipe produces, while multiples refer to the number of servings a recipe is listed as producing by default. By understanding this distinction, you can easily plan and order the correct amount of ingredients for your classes, and avoid a lot of confusion.
